Girls Soccer

Girls Soccer

Since the outset the Trust have made great strides in increasing participation in football within the city of Dundee through our Cammy Kerr Soccer Schools. Dundee FC Community Trust have been sending coaches into schools twice a day aiming to increase participation in football and improving physical activity levels whilst reaching those who, otherwise, may not have had the opportunity to attend our soccer school. With thanks to BIFFA and Tesco, we have been able to continue our reach and by working with our partners we are now offering free girls soccer at lunch times and after-school.

CEO Greg Fenton said “Our Head of Community Football James (Morrison) has been working in partnership with Kieran Foy at Active Schools, as we plan to deliver girl only classes this school term. While girls have attended sessions delivered by Dundee FC for many years, we believe now is the time for Dundee FC to enter the women’s game. This matches our long-term aim of having a Dundee FC Community Girls Academy and Women’s Team and promotes social inclusion within our society.  We aim to coach 200 girls a week through lunch time and after-school sessions and our Head of Community Football James Morrison will be announcing plans in the coming weeks of our Girls Community School.”

“As a Trust we are committed to promoting the women’s game in our City and have plans to develop this further both in the city, through participation, and within our own Trust/Club as we look to venture into the competitive scene.”
